National Best Friend’s Day

National Best Friend’s Day is June 8th. If you look up the definition it says a day to honor that one special person you call your best friend.

I want to reflect on two.

The first one was my best friend from second grade until, well really he’s still a best friend. His name is Kim. I was in the second grade and he was in the third. His father was building a new home for their family that was just two doors from our home. My mother saw Kim playing on that big dirt pile and said I know that kid would make a great friend for you. She was right. Kim and I were inseparable, as a matter fact if one of us was alone, people would always ask where the other one was. My mother saw Kim playing on that big dirt pile and said I know that kid would make a great friend for you. She was right. Kim and I were inseparable, as a matter fact if one of us was alone, people would always ask where the other one was. We spent all the fun school years, Grade School thru High School together. He is a year older but we still played sports, the band, and other activities together. He would sleep over at our house and my Dad was a mentor to him. We remained close after school and even worked together at more than one business. I keep in touch with him on Facebook. Even though we are across the country away, I know I could still count on him for just about anything and he can count on me too!

The other Best Friend has to be my wife, Regina! We have been together since November 1989 and have been together for so many life events. Many great things, many sad things including the deaths of parents. We have lived in Nashville first then Palm Desert and have had so many adventures together. I could write volumes about her and not even scratch the surface of how I feel about her. She is a Best Friend in every way and is so kind and helpful to so many others also! When you can laugh together, cry together even know what the other one is thinking or going to say, that’s a Best Friend. Someone that is always there for your happy celebrations and the not so happy ones too, that’s your Best friend. Regina is all that to me, and more.

Consider yourself fortunate if you have a Best Friend that you can share anything with. A Best Friend that is always there for you and you for them. Most of us have many friend and acquaintances, but sadly many of us don’t have that Best Friend. Make sure to give them a call and let them know how you feel about them on this special day. Maybe even do a little something for them. Cherish your Best Friend!
