Richard Simmons kicked off the week with a lawsuit against the National Enquirer and making some big accusations against his former associate.
People reports that yesterday Simmons filed a lawsuit against the National Enquirer and their publishers. He claims that his former associate, Mauro Oliveira, sold false and libelous information about him to the National Enquirer and Radar Online.
Stories included reasons why Simmons was out of the spotlight and that he was undergoing gender reassignment surgery.
Simmons claims that the National Enquirer ran the stories knowing that their source was unreliable. Oliveira was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, although Simmons does refer to him as “an individual who has blackmailed, extorted and stalked” him.
He also claims that Oliveira’s extortion led his to retreat from the spotlight.
