2. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, Palm Desert and Indian Wells
Another valley favorite, The Living Desert is always wonderful! Explore around the grounds, check out the animals that live there and the spectacular train display! Enjoy your picnic in a new setting.
3. Joshua Tree National Park, Joshua Tree
It’s a little drive but well worth your trip. Check out the scenery while enjoying your picnic lunch. The Joshua Trees are unique and special.
4. Indian Canyons, Palm Springs
Many locals and visitors alike don’t know much about this special recreational oasis! Enjoy your lunch then go exploring. The canyons are great and there are also plenty of trails.
5. Empire Polo Grounds, Indio
Of course now the music festivals are underway. From early January til early April is the polo season and it’s great. Take a picnic lunch and your family along to enjoy the polo matches. A great Sunday afternoon.
6. Idyllwild-Pine Cove Fern Valley, Mountain Communities
It’s a beautiful drive up highway 74 to these historic communities and a perfect picnic setting! All of these areas are great for you to enjoy your lunch. Bring your hiking shoes and work off a few calories after lunch.
7. Civic Center Dog Park, Palm Desert
Bring your picnic and your dog and enjoy the day. Picnic tables are available for you and yor family or that special someone. Don’t forget the dog treats.
8. Ruth Hardy Park, Palm Springs
This historic park is a pefect picnic pick! Many great events take place there and are perfect for your picnic.Even if an event is taking place, you will still enjoy this wonderful setting.
9. Coachella Valley Preserve, Near Palm Springs
This is a perfect picnic setting with plenty of history. There are picnic tables and a beautiful palm grove too. Enjoy the setting and by the way there is no charge.
10. Pick a Trail for a Picnic, Coachella Valley
The area is blessed with fantastic trails all over our mountains. Pack your lunch, make the climb and enjoy nature with your lunch. Don’t forget to pack your camera in your picnic basket for some after lunch snap shots.
